What are POP or IMAP and SMTP?
POP or IMAP and SMTP are protocols that email clients/programs/software utilize to remotely connect to our mail servers (or any other mail server) to access your email Inbox and send mail. These protocols are a set of guidelines that governs how data is transferred, received, or sent over the Internet.
IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) (recommend) – allows you to access and interact directly with your email stored on our mail server in real time. This keeps your Inbox, Sent messages, Drafts, Trash, and any custom folders synchronized between our mail server, Webmail, your mobile devices, and computers.
Read additional information about IMAP via Wikipedia.
POP (Post Office Protocol) is an older mail protocol – that is very similar to regular mail, by default new messages are downloaded directly to your email client and then removed from our mail server. POP email clients may provide the option to leave copies of messages on the server. However, if this has not been specially set your emails will only be accessible on the device or computer that the pop email client was first configured on.
The POP protocol cannot synchronize sent messages or other email folders across multiple mobile devices or computers.

SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) – allows you to send email messages over the Internet using your email clients on mobile devices or computers. Our mail server connects and transmits your sent mail to the correct receiving mail server (your recipient email inbox).
