How to Add or Edit Pages and Custom Links in Your Site Menu
Your Caribonix website comes pre-configured with the following default menus:
- Main Header Menu – typically shown at the top of your site.
- Footer Menu – shown in the bottom section of your site.
- Footer Widget Menus – menus that can be displayed in footer widgets (e.g., Footer Widget Menu 1, 2, etc.).
This guide explains how to add or edit pages and custom links in these menus.
Accessing the Menu Settings
- Log in to your website Admin Dashboard (back end).
- Go to Appearance → Menus.
Selecting a Menu to Edit
- At the top of the Menus screen, select a menu from the dropdown list:
- Main Header Menu
- Footer Menu
- Footer Widget Menu 1, Footer Widget Menu 2, etc.
- Click Select to load the menu.
Adding Pages to Your Menu
Before you can add a page to your menu, the page must first be created in your site. If you haven’t done this yet:
- Go to Pages → Add New.
- Create and publish your page.
- Return to the Appearance → Menus screen.
Then follow these steps:
- On the left panel, find the “Pages” section.
- Select from:
- Most Recent (recently created pages),
- View All (all available pages), or
- Use Search to find a specific page.
- Check the box next to the pages you want to add.
- Click Add to Menu.
- Drag and drop to arrange the menu items in your preferred order.
- Click the Save Menu button to apply changes.
Adding Custom Links to Your Menu
You can also add custom links to external websites, email addresses, or internal paths.
- In the left panel, click Custom Links.
- Enter the URL and Link Text (the label that will appear in the menu).
- Click Add to Menu.
- Drag the item to the desired position.
- Click the Save Menu button.
Edit Existing Menu Items
- Click the small arrow next to a menu item to expand it.
- Update the Navigation Label (what is shown in the menu).
- For custom links, you can also update the URL.
- Click the Save Menu button when done.
Organizing Menu Structure
To create dropdown menus (sub-items), drag a menu item slightly to the right under another item. This nests the item under the parent.
Assigning the Menu to a Location
You can assign your menu to a specific display location by checking the desired location under Menu Settings:
- Header (Main Navigation)
- Footer (Footer Navigation)
- Footer Widget Area
After selecting the location(s), click Save Menu.
Tips
- Keep your Main Header Menu simple and easy to navigate.
- Use descriptive labels for menu items.
- Use custom links for contact forms, external websites, or special internal sections.
- For multilingual sites, make sure to configure your menus per language (if applicable).
