How to Set Up Google Tag Manager on Your Website
Tracking website data and conversions is crucial for optimizing your website’s performance. We recommend using Google Tag Manager (GTM) to manage all your custom snippets, including JavaScript codes, tracking and conversion codes, Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, Google Analytics, and other third-party tags—all in one place, without needing to edit your site’s code.
What is Google Tag Manager?
Google Tag Manager is a free Tag Management System (TMS) by Google that allows you to easily add, update, and manage tracking codes (tags) on your website without modifying its core files. GTM also integrates seamlessly with major analytics and marketing platforms, making data tracking more efficient.
To get started, you’ll first need to create and set up a Google Tag Manager account.
Installing Google Tag Manager Code Snippets
Before adding Google Tag Manager to your website, retrieve your Google Tag Manager header and body code snippets from your GTM account. Ensure you’ve followed the steps for creating and setting up your Google Tag Manager account before proceeding.
Adding the GTM Header Code Snippet
Follow these steps to install the header code snippet:
- Log in to your website’s admin panel.
- Navigate to CBX Ultra > Settings > General.
- Expand the Header Code tab.
- Copy the header code snippet from your GTM account, labeled:
“1. Paste this code as high in the <head> of the page as possible.” - Paste it into the provided text area.
- Click Save.
Adding the GTM Body Code Snippet
Now, install the body code snippet:
- Navigate to CBX Ultra > Settings > Hook Content.
- In the Hook Content Location dropdown, select “body_start”.
- Copy the body code snippet from your GTM account, labeled:
“2. Paste this code immediately after the opening <body> tag.” - Paste it into the provided text area.
- Click Save.

Once you’ve completed these steps, your website is now integrated with Google Tag Manager. You can manage all your tags by logging into your Google Tag Manager dashboard.
