How to Add or Embed Videos to Blog Posts or Pages
Adding videos to your website is a great way to engage visitors, share content, and enhance your blog posts or pages. We make it very easy to embed videos from platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, DailyMotion, and many more — no special plugins or coding required.

Step 1: Get the Video Link
Start by getting the shareable link from the video platform of your choice (e.g., YouTube, TikTok, etc.).
- Go to the video you want to embed.
- Click the “Share” button located beneath the video.
- Copy the shortened share link that appears.

Note: You can also copy the URL directly from your browser’s address bar. However, YouTube or other platforms’ links from the address bar may include extra parameters (e.g., timestamps), which could affect the embed.
Step 2: Paste the Link into the Editor
- Edit your blog post or page.
- In the block editor or classic editor, paste the copied video link on a separate line where you want the video to appear.

That’s it! The link will automatically be converted into an embedded video.

Step 3: View the Embedded Video
Once you paste the link and update or preview your post/page, the video will be displayed directly within your content.

Supported Video and Media Platforms
The auto-embed feature in WordPress works with the following platforms:
- YouTube (Videos)
- TikTok (Videos)
- Vimeo (Videos)
- DailyMotion (Videos)
- Flickr (videos and images)
- Scribd (Documents)
- Photobucket (Images)
- Crowdsignal (Polls & Surveys)
- SmugMug (Various)
- Spotify (Music)
- Speaker Deck (Presentation slideshows)
Once your media is uploaded to any of these platforms, just paste the link on a separate line to embed it.
Can I Upload Videos Directly to My Website?
Technically, yes — but we don’t recommend it. Here’s why:
- Videos are large files and consume significant storage and bandwidth.
- Hosting videos yourself can slow down your site and increase hosting costs.
- You’ll need extra server resources to provide smooth video playback, especially with high traffic.
Instead, we recommend uploading your videos to platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, or DailyMotion and embedding them into your site. These platforms are optimized for video, often free, and can even help increase your site traffic and brand awareness.
